Social Media Visionary: If you talk the social media talk, walk the social media walk

Social media visionaryEvery now and then I run into the account of a “social media visionary”. These people have great websites, great marketing (heck I’m jealous of some of their features), and a pretty snazzy media kit. What do I have? Just about everything on my website is self-made and self-recorded. I handle my own social media and speaking event bookings. If you want to talk to me you can actually talk to me. Just pick up the phone and call 405 283 6287. I’ll answer unless I am right in the middle of something. I won’t send you through my speaking agency even though I have that option.

But the ONE thing that frustrates me to no end is the “social media visionary” who does not use social media. How can you honestly believe a word that person says? How can you trust that person and pay that person for any consulting working whatsoever? I don’t get it. I don’t get how people ooh and ahh over someone who professes the importance of the future of technology and social media, but does not know how to use it to communicate with their own audience and the masses.

I don’t trust clean mechanics. And I don’t trust social media consultants that don’t use social media. Neither should you.
